Guide to Brazil was created to make planning a trip to Brazil feel easy and clear, sharing Brazil from a local’s point of view.
We’re Gio and Gui, a Brazilian couple currently living in Europe. We love traveling, photography, and good food. By living abroad and experiencing new cultures, we began to see Brazil from a different perspective. It made us appreciate and miss even more the country’s culture, climate, landscapes, and everyday details that locals often take for granted and many visitors don’t know about.
Gio teaches Portuguese to foreigners and has lived in eight different cities across four Brazilian states. Through her work, she’s constantly helping people understand not just the language itself, but also Brazilian habits and cultural details that can make a big difference when traveling.
Gui is a tech enthusiast who naturally focuses on clarity, structure, and practical solutions. Together, we realized we could combine our backgrounds to do something we were already doing informally: helping people navigate Brazil with ease and understand the country beyond the surface.
Our tips are based on lived experience, both as locals and as Brazilians who know what it’s like to see a country through foreigners’ eyes. The goal isn’t to romanticize Brazil or scare you away, but to help you understand how things really work so you can travel with confidence and enjoy the country for what it is: complex, vibrant, and unforgettable.
